How to activate In-Store inside the Business Hub

How to activate In-Store

If you are a new merchant, to activate Clearpay in-store, go to the Business Hub and click on the In-store tab.

Adding a new store location:

  1. First, add your store location by clicking the Add store button.

  2. In the form that appears, fill out all fields and click Continue.

    • Location name: The name you put here will help you identify the location in the In-store page if you need to come back to it later.

    • Address: Enter the store address in this field

    • City: Enter the city that your store is located

    • Post Code: Enter your store’s postal code

    • Branch ID: This is optional, if you are unsure, please leave this field blank 


  3. The store will now appear as a location in the In-store tab.

  4. At the end of the store location, click on Activate.

  5. A prompt will appear to notify that Clearpay will be activated in-store, click Continue.

  6. To start the activation process, on your POS terminal enter £1.00 as the transaction amount and select manual credit card entry.

  7. Back in the activation setup in your browser, you will be shown a one-time-use test card. Enter the card number, expiry date, CVV and security code exactly as displayed.Note: If your POS or eftpos terminal asks for a postal code, enter any valid UK post code.

  8. Process the transaction where the expectation is that the transaction declines. Once it declines, your store is now activated and is now ready to accept Clearpay transactions.

  9. You will receive an email that will let you know that your in-store activation with Clearpay was successful and that your store has been successfully set up to accept in-person Clearpay payments.

If successful, in the In-store tab,  your store status should read Active.

Activating your card terminal using the  Contactless card (Tap/PayWave) method.

  1. At the end of the store location, click on Activate.

  2. A prompt will appear to notify that Afterpay will be activated in-store, click Continue.

  3. You will be prompted to select a method to activate your in-store payments. Select Contactless card (Tap/PayWave).

  4. The next screen will notify you that you will receive an email with everything you need to complete the setup for your terminal. This email will arrive within a few minutes and includes detailed instructions for running your test transaction. If you don't see the email check your spam or junk folder.

  5. Once you receive the email, the first step will ask you to complete a test transaction by:

    1. Entering a $1.00 transasction on your card terminal 

    2. Using an active Afterpay Card, tap the Afterpay card on your card terminal to complete the transasction.

  6. Your card terminal will display a decline message - This means the test transaction has worked. Save the transaction receipt.

  7. Now that you have completed your test transaction, please share the transaction details with us by clicking on the Submit your test details link in the email.

  8. Once you have submitted your transaction details with us, you will receive a confirmation email once your store location is ready to accept Afterpay in-store  payments.

If successful, in the In-store tab, your store status should read Active once we have activated it for you.
