Add Clearpay to your website

Boost sales by displaying Clearpay clearly on your website.

No matter what you sell – whether it’s clothing, camping gear or candle-making classes – your website has one job: to make it as easy as possible for customers to buy from you.

That’s where Clearpay comes in. It’s proven that merchants offering Clearpay enjoy customers who shop more frequently and who have a higher basket size1

That’s why it’s important to let customers know you have Clearpay from the moment they enter your website through to the purchase point – the product page - and the checkout.

Here’s how to create a Clearpay buying journey.

The home page

What it is: Displaying Clearpay’s logo on your homepage.

Why it’s important: To attract customers who want to use Clearpay.

This is the first and most obvious place to tell customers you have Clearpay. You can display Clearpay on a home page banner, a dedicated module or on the footer.

Florist Amarante London displays Clearpay’s logo in the footer of its home page, with founder Kiran Seehra explaining that offering Clearpay is important to her predominantly younger customers. “Around 80 per cent of our customer base is between 18 and 30, and Millennials and Gen Z expect businesses to have buy now, pay later services."

Online cycle retailer Simply Bike Stuff features Clearpay’s logo in a specially designed module on its home page. Founder Rob Arnold says that, “having Clearpay means that people who are perhaps new to cycling can buy an inexpensive bike, spread the cost and get delivery in 24 hours."

The product page

What it is: A Clearpay widget on your product page.

Why it’s important: To remind customers that you have Clearpay at a key point in the decision-making process - when they add to cart.

If Clearpay doesn’t appear on your product page, you could be missing out on sales. That’s because the product page is a key step in the purchasing journey; it’s the moment that customers decide to add to cart – or not.

Baby accessories brand Jem + Bea displays Clearpay on the product page, with co-founder Dominique Hughes saying, “We feature Clearpay on the product page because this is the point at which the customer is considering [purchasing] - and also how they will pay for it. It’s the moment at which payment and affordability is at the forefront of the customer’s mind."

How to add Clearpay to your product page: Clearpay is automatically added to your product page as part of the integration process. However, sometimes it can drop off during website updates.

The checkout page

What it is: The payment page

Why it’s important: This is your last opportunity to close the sale. Offering Clearpay can help reduce cart abandonment.

Up to 70 per cent of online shopping carts are abandoned. One way to reduce cart abandonment – and drive more sales – is to remind customers that you offer flexible payments using Clearpay.

Jeanette Misseldine, the founder of No1. Bra London, includes Clearpay on her checkout page. “Clearpay allows women to spread the payments.”

A Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page

What is it: A page dedicated to answering customer questions, including questions about payment.

Why it’s important: Navigating to a FAQ page demonstrates that a customer is carefully researching their purchase. They may simply need more information.

Help give customers the information they need to complete their purchase by including details about Clearpay on your website’s FAQ page. Consider including questions such as: What payment options do you offer? How does Clearpay work?

Remember that some customers may need more information to help them understand Clearpay and how buy-now-pay-later works.

Simply Bike Stuff features a FAQ page under Useful Information on the footer of its home page. The FAQ includes the question: What are your payment options? And lists Clearpay as the buy-now-pay-later option.

How to add a FAQ section: Navigate to the footer section of your website and add an additional page for frequently asked questions. Don’t forget to include information on how Clearpay works for customers.
